It’s hard to believe that with more than 112 million copies of Chicken Soup for the Soul by Jack Canfield sold that he ever worried if the book would catch on enough for him to reach his goal of $100,000. Jack had sent an intention to reach his goal not knowing exactly how he would reach it. The inspiration and idea came to him in the shower one day. He thought if he could sell 400,000 copies at just $0.25 each, then he would reach his goal. When in the grocery store he saw the National Enquirer in the checkout line. With their large circulation, he could reach enough people that he could accomplish his goal.
After speaking to a group of New York teachers, he was approached by a freelance writer for the National Enquirer. The story must have done its job because he made $92,327 – close enough to his goal that he considered that inspired thought in the shower to have led him down the right path.
